The Club’s Ethos – Encouraging Players of all Ability Levels

Horsham Tigers has a clear policy of providing accessible football to young players of all abilities.

For the younger age groups (i.e. up to age 11), teams can utilise both boys and girls, and teams have greatly benefited from the presence of players of both sexes in recent years. FA rules require that, from the age of 11 onward, teams are single sex and so the teams fielded above that age threshold are currently boys-only. Going forward, Horsham Tigers would of course be delighted to encourage girls’ teams, should there be sufficient interest and demand from the younger players.

Most of our teams operate a squad size of between 14 and 17 players in total. With teams of 11 players and three substitutes allowed per match, this means that even those players not regularly selected for every match can normally expect to be picked at least every other game (whether in the starting line-up or as a substitute). We see this as a key benefit of joining our teams – you can expect to play football regardless of your ability level; however regularity will be determined by your team manager.

As shown on the Roll of Honour page, we are especially proud that our young players earned the Club the Sportsmanship Award for the 2011-12 season. We expect everyone involved with the club to maintain these high standards both on and off the pitch and have Codes of Conduct which we ask everyone representing the club to abide by.
